This is another one of the summer season's better shows in my opinion. Its an another short 11 episode long series about two siblings and a lady trying to get home after an earthquake.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summary: The premise of the project is the 70% or higher possibility that a magnitude 7.0 earthquake will occur in Tokyo in the next 30 years. The anime will depict what would happen if an 8.0 earthquake took place. The story will center on Mirai, a middle school freshman girl who goes to Tokyo’s artificial Odaiba Island for a robot exhibition with her brother Yutaka at the start of summer vacation. A powerful tremor emanates from an ocean trench, the famed Tokyo Tower and Rainbow Bridge crumble and fall, and the landscape of Tokyo changes in an instant. With the help of a motorcycle delivery woman named Mari who they meet on Odaiba, Mirai and Yutaka strive to head back to their Setagaya home in western Tokyo.

I originally wanted to watch this because of the earthquake premise. They fascinate me. I keep wanting to compare this to this TV miniseries (movie) called 10.5 I had watched several years ago. It was basically the same thing although in this anime series, we have this middle school girl and her elementary school brother. I thought the first couple of episodes were really cool because of the earthquake scenes and buildings falling down and things like that. But soon it turned into almost a regular drama and I wasn't sure what to think. I kept watching it but I guess it didn't make me like it as much. Everything was nicely directed however and the character growth was amazing but it somehow didn't suit my tastes I guess. Maybe because I was hoping to watch more about earthquakes but the later half of the series turned into a strange psychological drug trip. (not really)
But despite the shift from the 'what if' earthquake scenario to just character growth, it truely was a great show.
My rating: 4.4/5
Tear rating: 5/5 (predictable ending but I'm a sucker for family drama anyway)
